These different combinations can be good or bad depending on the expression. 8/2/7=great reading and writing, but your analysis was terrible There is no longer one single "total" SAT essay score, just Reading, Analysis, and Writing essay scores. Logically, it would seem that the average SAT essay score in each domain should be a 5 (since that's halfway between 2 and 8).
